The NHS Deep Cleaning and Advisory Service: marking one year of the Covid-19 pandemic

As the UK marks one year on from its first confirmed Covid-19 case in the country, the NHS Deep Cleaning and Advisory Service takes a look back at the organisations it has supported throughout the pandemic.

The NHS Deep Cleaning and Advisory Service was launched in the summer of 2020 by the commercial team at NTH Solutions, an NHS wholly owned company and provider of estates and facilities to North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust. Following their track record of launching innovative NHS services and products to support the wider community, the commercial team launched the cleaning service in light of the Covid-19 pandemic to break the mould when it comes to standards of cleaning.

The multi-faceted service offers a wide variety of innovative solutions to help stop the spread of infection throughout and beyond the pandemic – extending the NHS standard of cleanliness into the community.

The variety of services offered by the NHS Deep Cleaning and Advisory Service span from deep cleaning and bio decontamination to an advisory support line and training programmes to teach how to clean ‘the NHS way’.

As with all of NTH Solutions’ services, the NHS Deep Cleaning and Advisory Service is delivered in line with NHS standards and profits are reinvested back into the NHS to enhance frontline patient care.

In order to roll out the service on a nationwide scale, and to of course allow NTH Solutions to continue prioritising its exemplary cleaning service to its Trust, the NHS Deep Cleaning and Advisory Service has also joined forces with a number of thoroughly verified, trained and audited service delivery partners. The extended team of deep clean technicians across the country have completed over 220 deep cleans and rapid outbreak responses, as well as delivering training sessions, risk assessments and more.

The team has focused on building long-standing relationships that will have the largest impact on slowing community infection, and is proud to be providing services to more than 130 organisations across the UK, largely in education and health and social care.

Such relationships include Bishop Hogarth Catholic Education Trust, a North Eastern 18 school (and growing) Academy Trust. Maura Regan, CEO said: “The safety and wellbeing of our students and staff is our utmost priority. In addition to enforcing social distancing measures throughout our schools, we have worked with the NHS Deep Cleaning and Advisory Service to deep clean our schools to help keep students and staff safe.

“The benefit of partnering with an NHS owned company has been invaluable, as it provided us with expert advice in building a new environmental management plan, while also supporting the NHS.”

Of course, the services are suitable for all types of industries and the team is already supporting many other organisations too including babywear retailer Silver Cross, League One football club Sunderland AFC, the North East Ambulance Service and Hertfordshire-based international boarding school Hockerill Anglo-European College.

Mike Worden, Managing Director at NTH Solutions, said: “It goes without saying that the pandemic response for Covid-19 has highlighted the need for organisations the length and breadth of the country to elevate attention to their environmental management plans to help stop the spread of infection.

“We are proud to be delivering a national service which has built a strong partnership approach to individual pandemic responses, and reaches organisations across all sectors of education, health, local authority and private sector markets. We will continue strengthening these relationships long after this pandemic and support our partners in becoming more resilient to the challenges we may face.”

Dr Deepak Dwarakanath, Medical Director at North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust, added: “It’s great to see the team at NTH Solutions expanding their deep cleaning service, not just to local businesses in Stockton-on-Tees but to organisations UK-wide.

“By extending the NHS standard of cleanliness to the wider community, not only is the service enhancing cleaning procedures for each organisation they work with but they are educating the public on how to prevent the spread of infection. That is the key to fighting this pandemic.”
