Catering

The NTH Solutions Catering function has full responsibility for all aspects of catering delivered across the University Hospital of North Tees (UHNT) and University Hospital of Hartlepool (UHH) sites.

This covers:

The main hospital kitchens

Patient catering

including patient meals, and provision of the Ward Host service

Operating all Catering retail outlets

including the Tees Restaurant at North Tees, the Café Wilber’s Coffee Shops within the Tees restaurant and the North Tees Main Outpatients Department, the Coffee Pod in the main corridor at North Tees hospital, and Café Wilber’s at Hartlepool hospital

The team works closely with various local authorities including their Environmental Health departments, whilst also maintaining the highest standards possible for patients, colleagues and visitors.

We employ around 160 Catering colleagues in total.

The Catering department based at UHNT was awarded a 5* food safety rating by the national Food Standards Agency (FSA) in March 2025 – the highest rating possible. You can read more about that here.
