NTH Solutions is proud to have helped North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust go green. The project will help make significant savings that will be ploughed directly back into patient care.
The improvements across the Trust are helping save thousands of pounds every month. These include the installation of energy efficient LED lights, a new air conditioning system and new solar panels at the University Hospital of North Tees.
Stuart Watkin, Head of Engineering Compliance and Energy, NTH Solutions said: “We are proud to help the Trust reduce its carbon footprint which is not only the right thing to do for the environment and to be a good neighbour within our community, but it is also helping the Trust save money. This ties back into our values, which we share with the Trust, which is to enable health and social care providers to make savings that can be invested directly back into patient care.”
The LED lights have already been installed on several wards and in many public areas at the North Tees site.
We are already in talks with the Trust to extend the project. Further funding from NHS Improvement will allow work to complete the rest of this site – as well as at Peterlee Community Hospital and the University Hospital of Hartlepool within the next 12 months.
Once finished, and after funding invested is paid back within the next four years, the trust expects to make an annual saving of around £100,000.
Work is also ongoing to replace around a quarter of the trust’s air conditioning system to a more modern and carbon friendly version. This alone will help save around £40,000 a year.
Meanwhile, solar panels on the main site and at the new energy centre at the University Hospital of North Tees are expected to help save £50,000 a year.
