Louise English, winner of the HEFMA People Development Award!
Massive congratulations are in order for Louise English, Capital Planning and Property Manager, NTH Solutions, for winning HEFMA’s prestigious People Development Award.
Louise is a relatively recent addition to NTH Solutions, having joined us on March 1st 2019. Although she was nominated for this award when she worked for neighbouring Trust, Yorkshire Ambulance Service, we are proud to celebrate her achievement! Louise’s line Manager, Steve Taylor, Assistant Director of Estates and Capital said: ‘Although Louise has only been with us for a short time, I’m not at all surprised by her achievement! Her drive, professionalism and experience has been evident from day one and we are delighted that she is part of the team.’
What is HEFMA?
The Health Estates and Facilities Management Association (HEFMA) was formed in the early 1990’s and is the UK’s leading member association that represents Estates and Facilities professionals working in the NHS.
What is the People Development Award?
This award recognises individuals or teams working in Estates and Facilities within an NHS Trust who have made significant developments in their knowledge through robust learning and development initiatives.
From a standing start, with no previous experience in the Estates and Facilities industry, Louise has, through sheer hard work and determination become an award winning and recognised contributor to the field. Not only did she achieve both a BTEC National Diploma in Paralegal Commercial Conveyancing as well as a Masters in Surveying (Real Estate), she did so by part funding herself whilst working full time and achieved several promotions along the way. Louise’s hard work and dedication are of tremendous benefit to any Trust that she works for, as her previous employer described:
‘Louise has managed to recover significant costs for the team by undertaking a portfolio review which identified overpayments and unrecovered costs. She was also instrumental in providing an audit of the whole Trust estate, which allowed a tangible delivery plan to be instigated. This supports the emerging Estates Strategy and has led to investment being directed into the retained estate, benefiting frontline staff’.
What does Louise think?
I’m honoured and overjoyed to have been recognised with this award. I am extremely grateful to work for the NHS and to have contributed towards the great achievements of Yorkshire Ambulance Service while I was employed there. I am inspired on a daily basis by the hard work and achievements of my Estates and Facilities colleagues, and it was with the support and encouragement of my team that I was able to achieve what I did. We all work incredibly hard across the NHS, with the patient at the heart of what we do. I am delighted to have now joined NTH Solutions, a subsidiary of North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust, and I am excited for what we are able to achieve together and looking forward to the future.
