Following a successful eight week project, ward 41 at the University Hospital of North Tees has undergone a full decant and refurbishment and the results are fantastic.
Project managed by design and development manager at NTH Solutions Jordan Pearson, this particular refurbishment involved upgrades to everything from fire compartmentation to dementia friendly and DDA (disability discrimination act) compliant décor throughout.
Following a full ward decant and deep clean, the decoration and minor repairs were carried out by the NTH Solutions estates team.

The more complex building work was managed by Geoffrey Robinson, site manager, Will Campbell and carried out by his team.
Will said: “We are pleased how well this project has turned out, we were able to complete on time and able to minimise staff and patient disruption throughout.”
The ward has had a full floor replacement by Frank Wilkinson flooring company, as well as new wash hand basins to comply with current water regulations and infection control policies.
A full replacement of electrical distribution boards ensure we are compliant with current electrical regulations and energy efficient LED lighting has been fitted to support our organisations on-going drive to becoming more eco-friendly.
On completion of the project the ward was handed back over to the clinical team who can now enjoy an improved working environment and more appealing and comfortable surroundings for our patients which aids treatment and recovery a more appealing, safe. This significant project was considered a great success and work to replicate this project will begin on the adjacent ward 42 in the coming weeks.
