The estates team at NTH Solutions has celebrated a prestigious industry award win as the energy centre project at University Hospital of North Tees scooped the Offsite Construction Award from Constructing Excellence Yorkshire and Humber.

As a wholly-owned NHS company and provider of estates and facilities services for North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust, NTH Solutions managed the energy centre project to support the Trust in reducing its carbon footprint.

Led by Steve Taylor, Assistant Director of Estates and Capital at NTH Solutions, and delivered by principal contractor NG Bailey, the multimillion-pound energy centre project provides improved resilience, flexibility and reliability of the primary engineering services for the Trust.

With solar panels providing an estimated 5-10% of the electricity required by the hospital, the energy centre secures vital heating, hot and cold water services and the emergency power requirements needed by all the wards and departments within the busy hospital.

Steve Taylor said: ‘Sustainability is a fundamental part of not only our future energy strategy but our inherent culture as an organisation. We all have a responsibility to do what we can to reduce our carbon footprint but it feels great to have been recognised, with the help of our partner NG Bailey, for our work through these awards. I’m extremely proud of the whole team.’
