Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability

Our commitment to responsibility and sustainability

Responsibility and sustainability aren’t phrases that we simply pay lip service to. Such is the importance we place on these topics, they are firmly embedded within our Mission, Purpose, Values, and strategic priorities.

Driving sustainable practices across the organisation

As a socially responsible and sustainable organisation, we proactively consider how we are able to support the development of our local communities, whilst acting in line with our Trust’s Green Plan. We are always looking at how we can be more sustainable in all that we do.

Enabling digital transformation and reducing paper use

One particular area of focus for us is the provision of technology that encourages digital adoption, and a move towards being a paper-lite organisation. Not only does this support colleagues in being able to do their jobs more efficiently, digital enablement also supports the way we work across a 24/7 shift pattern. Proactive education, training and awareness campaigns support our efforts.

Reducing our environmental impact

Alongside this, we are actively investing in our electric vehicle fleet, our waste processing and treatment capabilities, recycling and repurposing everything we can to promote a circular economy, and supporting a national NHS-wide change in food waste disposal. Creating social value through local opportunities

As a responsible organisation, we focus on the provision of support and opportunity across our local communities. We are a proud employer of a largely local workforce, many of whom will happily tell you that they are the third generation in their family to work within one of our hospital or community sites. We proactively work to develop our colleagues, whether that is through in-role training and promotion, or through the provision of Apprenticeships. The creation of social value is key. We actively work with community partners and other public sector organisations to identify where we should prioritise our focus in order to create further opportunity for local residents and businesses.

Supporting young people through structured work placements

NTH Solutions works closely with the Catcote Academy Brierton Sixth Form in Hartlepool to provide structured 12-week work placements for its students, with a view to supporting local young people into the workplace or further education linked to the provision of health and care services. Catcote Academy supports children and young people with a variety of special educational needs. In addition, we support the NHS England Choices College Stockton through the provision of structured work placements for its students across our Operations, Facilities and Supply Chain teams, again with a view to supporting them into employment.
